Water Tower at Westley, Ca.

May 24, 2008

A Real study in weathering, this water tower located in Westley, Ca. which is 2-3 miles north of Patterson, Ca. was last used 55 years ago by Southern Pacific Steam locomotives. Seems to have held up well though.

The irrigation district used it for awhile after the railroad quit using it. But, even they quit that years ago………………..[it’s] Sad there fewer and fewer ties to Central California’s Past left these days. May the Westly Water Tank stand for many more years!!!!

I would like to know does this water tower still stands in California? I am a visual artist working on an art project featuring water towers and I would like to include this image in my work if it does not have a copyright.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you.

Hey Susan, glad to see someone’s interested. Westley, California is halfway between Tracy and Patterson, Ca on the west side of the Central Valley, about 80 miles southeast of San Francisco. It’s along the dusty Highway 33 and can be seen from the main road.
