Amazing (online) Modeling Tool!

June 4, 2008

Using the Live local aerial viewer in BIRD’s EYE view you can check out the weathering on freight cars, buildings or just about anything in a 360* view. Check it out at

St. Louis Wharf St. Yard

http://maps.live.com/?v=2&sp=Point.qf0y7c7ghgbf_St.%20Louis%20Wharf%20St.%20Yard____&encType=1Check out virtually any railyard in most major cities, no shortage of roof shot reference, and you can save the info on the area by pressing the “Print Screen” Key on your keyboard, which puts a full-computer screen image on your clipboard, which, by pressing CTRL+V on your keyboard, you can paste it into an imaging program of your choice.

Here are a few interesting shots I found on Live Local:

The roundhouse in Seattle seems to still be in use.

A large modest engine servicing facility in Gary, IN.

A sea-going carfloat, loaded with shipping containers and freight cars, is being loaded in Seattle, bound for Alaska.

Check out Museums before you visit. This is the Brooklyn Roundhouse in Portland, Oregon from the air.
